Sexual Addiction Therapy

According to the Mayo Clinic 6 to 8 percent of the population could be classified as having a sexual addiction (2022).  Many others, while not meeting the criteria for addiction, struggle to maintain intimate relationships or deep connection due to the use of pornography.

Our goal when we take on a client, is not only to help them gain control over sexual compulsions, but to help them have healthy intimate relationships which include healthy sexuality.

Patrick Carnes first identified sexual addiction in his book Out of the Shadows (1983).  We use a curriculum from the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals, which is arguably the best training available for treating sexual addiction.

We offer individual sessions for those wanting to heal from their addictions and for their partners and family.

We work with couples when they have done the healing work individually and are ready to heal as a couple.

We have groups for sexual addiction, those who have a co-addiction of sex and substance abuse, and for partners of sexual addicts.

When I first started working with those addicted to pornography I thought of pornography as a moral issue. I now view it as something that changes brain chemistry in a negative way and is a relationship killer.  One of my passions is to help individuals and families heal from the damage pornography and sexual addiction can do
